This morning, we were alerted by Troy Hunt, a respected figure in the cybersecurity industry, about a vulnerability within our system that was inadvertently introduced in a recent update. An unnamed individual exploited the vulnerability to scrape limited personal data from our users, and then someone contacted Mr. Hunt. Importantly, this vulnerability did not involve direct access to our databases.
Immediately upon receiving this alert from Mr. Hunt, we mobilized our team to patch the vulnerability and thoroughly audited our platform to safeguard against any further exposure.
What was exposed:
The information scraped included email addresses and some cell phone numbers.
What was not exposed:
Decrypted passwords and direct messages were not disclosed.
We are taking this matter extremely seriously. We have already implemented additional security measures to prevent future incidents, and we will notify the appropriate authorities, including the FBI.
What You Can Do:
For added security, we recommend changing your password and reset 2-factor, especially if your password is used across multiple sites. We recommend staying vigilant and monitoring your Spoutible account for any unusual activity.
